Nomadic Image was launched in the Fall of 2007 with the mission of showcasing emerging photographers in a setting that breaks the mold of traditional exhibition formats, focusing on works that transport the visitor to a specific destination, a particular mood, or that create a certain sense of time.

Installation, lighting, and other aspects of atmosphere are relied upon to place the photographs in a context of color, texture, light and sound reminiscent of the locations being exhibited. Each individual image stands alone and in the context of a group to accomplish the transformation of a two-dimensional plane into a three-dimensional experience.

"Making the artwork approachable is critical. I do not want people to simply look at a photograph - I want them to experience the journey the photographer took to bring that image to life," says founder Andy Verostek. "In that way, the photographs will infect their imaginations and new journeys will begin."

The photographic exhibits at Nomadic Image are not meant to be static collections, but vibrant, moving interpretations of the human experience.

To this end, Nomadic Image derives its name from the idea that, much like a nomadic tribe wanders in search of food and water, these images will spend their lives wandering through the imaginations of those who take them in; and they will find themselves spending years in various homes, galleries and museums in the courses of their existence.

"Regardless of the focus of each exhibition, the end result should be that those that come will walk away having experienced their own journey through the lens of another," says Verostek. "Each photograph is a journey with light waiting to be taken."
